Stars turn to Twitter to mourn Hollywood starlet

December 21, 2009

Celebrities have turned to social networking site Twitter today, to mourn the death of Hollywood’s “sunshine” Brittany Murphy after the star suddenly passed away yesterday morning.

Murphy’s former boyfriend and co-star, Ashton Kutcher, used Twitter to express his condolences after the 32-year-old actress died of a heart attack at her home in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He wrote, “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.”

He then followed this with his final tweet of condolence,

“see you on the other side kid.”

Kutcher wasn’t alone in turning to Twitter this morning to share messages of condolences to Murphy’s family; other stars such as co-star Alicia Silverstone, Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and Peaches Geldof all posted messages in remembrance.

2009 has seen celebrities across the globe use Twitter as a hub to send out messages to fans and their celebrity pals, adding a more personal touch to the interactivity between the rich and famous and the public, and has been as the main reason Twitter hit

December 20, 2009

Permanent body art such as tattoos have become the latest phenomenon to hit the fashion industry, what once was perceived as deviant, masculine and rebellious is now so popular that it has surprisingly become an actual fashion trend. Today, tattoos are just the beginning; extreme body modifications are the new trends to look out for.

Quentin Inglis, owner of Kalima Emporium Studio in Worthing is known by many as the ‘king of body modifications’. Later, he will leak the secrets of what is the ‘next big thing’ to become an extreme fashion trend. But first, let’s find out how permanent body art is becoming more and more extreme…

Traditionally tattoos became widespread as forms of identification amongst tribal groups, they then became known as exclusive trademarks for particular cultures and gangs. However, within the last decade tattoos have proven to be trendy, stylish and cool; they have now become a mainstream trend accepted and wanted by many.

Fashion and Sex sell Music

December 18, 2009

“Sex sells” may be a quote that is often heard, but how true is it? Over the last few decades, the music industry amongst others, have become more and more full of ‘adult content’, but what will 2010 bring? Music and sex have been, and will continue to push the boundaries of censorship, but just how far will it go?

Later, music Journalist Lawrence Lartey; formerly the contributing editor of urban music magazine Touch, gives us his views on how the music industry uses sex in today’s society.

As the years fly by and generations change, what is acceptable in society remains a mystery. This year alone every major music award ceremony broadcasted performances that were questionable. It is no secret that the music industry uses sex in order to sell music. Some may say the industry uses sex negatively whilst others will say it’s just a bit of fun. However, when a music video is created through unbearable lyrics and sex orientated scenes, how can we actually appreciate the musical content?
